Located on the Oregon coast this house is tailored to the needs of a large extended family. The plan focuses around a living-dining-kitchen area and two generous outdoor spaces. The combined living space can easily accommodate large gatherings of family and friends.
The building profile derived from site constraints including a restrictive building height limit and the need to build above the existing flood plane.
From the street the building has a low, horizontal profile but the interior living space feels generous. Large windows and openings connect the interior space with the outdoors. A vaulted ceiling creates one large room extending above partitions that float like furniture within the space and separate the entry, living and kitchen. The living room opens on forested hills to the east and ocean views to the west.
